Peter Asplund Aspiration & Blåsarsymfonikerna

Trumpeter, flugelhornist and singer Peter Asplund in this concert arranges a rare meeting between his own band Aspiration with pianist Lars Jansson and The Swedish Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mats Hålling.

At Dieselverkstaden, trumpeter, flugelhorn player and singer Peter Asplund arranges a rare meeting between his own band Aspiration with pianist Lars Jansson and The Swedish Wind Ensemble under the leadership of Mats Hålling.
The music comes from Asplund’s latest record Out of this world, which was released together with the Gothenburg Wind Orchestra under the direction of Hålling last fall. This is what Asplund himself says about the record:
”On this album, I pay tribute to the songwriters who gave us all this wonderful music, by playing a bunch of songs that have that ’larger than life’ feel.”
At Dieselverkstaden we get to hear original compositions by Asplund as well as a solid grasp of the American songbook in arrangements for wind symphonies by conductor Mats Hålling.
With two Orkesterjournalen awards, three Grammy nominations and numerous album collaborations, Peter Asplund is one of the country’s most personal trumpet players and singers with both a timeless and modern expression. Here in a meeting with Lars Jansson – one of Sweden’s foremost pianists for more than five decades.
This evening during the Stockholm Jazz Festival we get music that is free, low-key, loud, wistful, happy, explosive, restrained… everything that characterizes Peter Asplund’s musical world.

The Swedish Wind Ensemble has been part of Stockholm musical life since 1906. It is an innovative and playful orchestra that moves freely between different musical expressions and genres, always with brass music as a basis.

The Swedish Wind Ensemble is supported by Region Stockholm, Nacka Municipality and the Cultural Council.
