João Bosco & Jaques Morelenbaum
Duo Bosco Morelenbaum presents a carefully selected repertoire consisting of own compositions as well as ingenious interpretations of Brazilian music classics.
Stockholm Jazz Festival without a Brazilian element is not a jazz festival. Everyone who has been there since Bosse Stenhammar’s time at Skeppsholmen knows that. This year the festival has the invaluable honor of welcoming the Brazilian singer, composer and guitarist João Bosco together with the Rio-born cellist and composer Jacques Morelenbaum.
Since the 60s, João Bosco has been one of Brazilian pop music’s most popular artists with around thirty solo records. Jaques Morelenbaum has written film music, toured with Gilberto Gil and had the popular quartet Quarteto Jobim Morelenbaum together with Paulo and Daniel Jobim, son and grandson of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
After the success at the Rio Montreux Jazz Festival and with the blockbuster recording of the song ”O canto da Terra por um fio” João Bosco and Jaques Morelenbaum decided to spread the graces. The long-awaited European tour takes the duo to Maxim, one of the ever-expanding Stockholm jazz festival’s new stages.
Duo Bosco Morelenbaum presents a carefully selected repertoire consisting of their own compositions as well as ingenious interpretations of Brazilian music classics. An evening a lover of Brazilian music should not miss.
