Lelo Nika Jr, accordion. An eighth-generation Romani musician from an ancient family of musicians with roots in Serbia. “Lelo Nika Jr, moves effortlessly between jazz, Roma folklore and world music. He has a strong personal tone in his compositions, while the music rests securely in the deep roots of previous generations in the Roma tradition.

He has won several awards for his music-making, such as the City of Malmö’s cultural scholarship and Hagström’s and the Royal Academy of Music’s major accordion prize. Despite his young age, Lelo has played concerts throughout Europe, with solo performances at the Folk Opera in Stockholm and at the Rudolphinum in Prague together with the Prague Philharmonic.
For this concert, Lelo will play with his good friends, pianist Jack Aprat, double bassist Jesper Nordberg and drummer Zoltan Csörsz, they will offer music that represents them in a unique way – full of improvisation, unexpected twists and turns and an interplay that makes a strong impression on the audience. Lelo and Jack will take you on a journey to the Balkans and the Middle East where the Roman-Balkan music will meet the Arabic music and they also draw influences from jazz and Swedish folk songs.
