Ezra Collective

Ezra Collective is one of the most interesting jazz acts from the British isles right now – On October 19, they will take the stage at Vasateatern.

When The New York Times took a trip to London to describe the incredible surge of jazz in the British capital, they naturally ended up at a gig with Ezra Collective. They briefly noted that it felt like being at a rave. The atmosphere and vibe were simply filled to the brim with energy. The fact that Ezra Collective is considered one of the hottest bands in London right now is partly due to the band’s leader—and drummer—Femi Koleoso. Those who have seen him live speak lyrically about his frenetic energy, inviting demeanor, and ability to blend the many different expressions of jazz. Together with his bandmates, he freely mixes afrobeat, Latin, hip-hop, grime, and many other genres. But the end result is always jazz. Today’s jazz.

Lineup:
Femi Koleoso - drums,
TJ Koleoso - bass,
Joe Armon-Jones - keys,
Ife Ogunjobi - trumpet,
James Mollison - saxophone
