MAIKA + KNOBIL
Two of the most exciting voices from Germany and Switzerland in an evening of electric avant-pop and jazzy punk chanson – bold and uncompromising.
Lupino Live and the Goethe-Institut present an evening of concerts featuring two unique acts!
***MAIKA***
MAIKA creates a musical universe where wild 80s-inspired sounds meet modern sonic textures and lyrics in German, English, and Polish. Driving rhythms, atmospheric synths, and a voice full of depth come together in songs that are both electrifying and vulnerable.
With both a win and a nomination at the Deutsche Jazzpreis 2025, she stands out as one of the most exciting names in Germany’s avant-jazz scene today.
This evening, she appears in a stripped-down duo format together with musician and producer Max Peters. Through vocals, synths, guitar, and piano, they offer a set full of intimacy and presence.
***KNOBIL***
Double bass player, singer, and composer Louise Knobil invites you to dive into her world, where jazz, punk, glitter, and French chanson merge with sparkling, daring energy.
Inspired by icons such as Esperanza Spalding, Charles Mingus, and Boris Vian, this rising star of Swiss jazz transforms her personal diary into an original musical adventure. Polyamory, chronic insomnia, and pesto recipes come together in compositions that are both personal and universal.
Her mischievous melodies, built on the interplay of double bass and vocals, are elevated by her collaborators: Chloé Marsigny on bass clarinet and effects, and Vincent Andreae on drums.
