Adam Forkelid 1st Movement

Pianist Adam Forkelid comes with his new album "Turning Point": soulful and energetic music, which can be described as new Nordic jazz.

Adam Forkelid’s quartet released their new album ”Turning Point” in May, and the reactions have not been long in coming. A large number of reviews have come in from both Europe and the USA, and it has been praised as a masterpiece in many places.

After a release tour in Sweden during the spring, the quartet also gave a celebrated concert at the Jazz Baltica festival in Germany at the beginning of the summer.

Now it is time for 1st Movement to return to Krematoriet again. Adam is bringing with him some of the country’s top jazz musicians: star guitarist Carl Mörner Ringström and the dynamic duo Daniel Fredriksson on drums and Niklas Fernqvist on bass.

”Turning Point” is a contemporary musical reflection of a life journey. The red thread through the compositions is a musical exploration of the inevitable changes in life that shape each person’s personal story. Composed in a month and recorded in a day, the new album consists of soulful and energetic music, which can be described as new Nordic jazz.

The intricate interplay between guitar and piano is central to the music, and the sound places itself in the borderland between electric and acoustic. As DN’s Johannes Cornell put it: ”With a touch of honest electricity, they even manage to add a whole dimension.”
