Stampen Blues Jam with Thomas “Mr Blue” Hammarlund
Stampen's blues jam and the best Saturday hangout in town!
Mr Blue Trio, which is the house band at Stampen’s blues jam on October 19, is a blues band from Stockholm, a band that plays classic blues with songs by BB King, Slim Harpo, Freddie King and others. Thomas Hammarlund on guitar and vocals is a blues guitarist with long experience and is also inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. He has played with most of the big blues artists in Sweden, for example Roffe Wikström and Sven Zetterberg. He has also accompanied American blues musicians such as Alan Haynes, Jimmy Dawkins and Homesick James just to mention a few.
On bass, which is usually a six-string Fender, we find Staffan Bond Westfält. In recent years, he has played with many of Stockholm’s leading blues musicians. An experienced musician who has also played with many famous Swedish artists such as Harpo and Ted Gärdestad.
The drummer is Michael Johansson, a frequently hired drummer who has a hard swinging shuffle etc. He has played with Roffe Wikström, Sven Zetterberg, Mats Ronander, Clas Yngström and Fatboy.
All of the above musicians are also part of the Erika Baier Band, which recently played at Åmål’s Blues Festival.
