Oasen #33

Double concert with rowdy free jazz and finely tuned poetry by some of the shining stars of the experimental jazz scene

A warm welcome to the second Oasen evening of the autumn season at Timmermansgården! This evening we will hear two exciting and unusual constellations, both consisting of musicians from the experimental part of the Stockholm jazz scene. As usual, there will be an open improv jam afterwards where everyone is welcome to participate.

Program:
18.00: Oskarsson/Svanberg/Egberth
18.45: Channa Riedel & Anna Lindal
19.30: IMPROJAM

——

MAX OSKARSSON – saxophone, ANTON SVANBERG – tuba, DENNIS EGBERTH – drums

A trio with saxophone, tuba and drums who play good music by themselves and maybe by someone else. Fast, nice, strong, slow, ugly, weak and everything in between! But above all a great focus on improvisation and the collective playfulness. The magic will flow from the instruments into your ears and hearts. Just love and swing!

——

CHANNA RIEDEL – voice, ANNA LINDAL – violin

Channa Riedel is a musician and poet. In 2023, her poetry debut Karlsbad was published by Albert Bonniers förlag and was nominated for the Katapult Prize. In 2024, she released the album Amen, amen, amen with the group Beloveds. Both works explore and depict her Sudeten German Jewish family history. She also contributed vocals and lyrics to the album Georg Riedels Jiddischland, which was nominated for Children’s Music of the Year at the Manifest Gala 2024.

With a background as concertmaster in the Stockholm Philharmonic and professor of music, violinist Anna Lindal now freelances as a chamber musician and improviser in experimental and contemporary expressions but also baroque and classical repertoire. She’s part of ensembles such as Makadam and Lipparella, as well as Skogen, Fire! Orchestra and the violin duo Bäver. She has done many collaborations with composers and cross-artistic collaborations with directors, dancers, artists and writers. She’s part of the artistic research project Lethe, which investigates oblivion based on musical improvisation.
