Backman, one of Swedens most reputable reedplayers for 20 years, have released three critically acclaimed soloalbums. Most recenty “Nothing” released March 7 2025.
“Nothing” is the sequel to “When Light Is Put Away”. The 2021 album was rewarded the swedish Manifestprize for Best Jazz Album of 2021 as well as a 2nd position in the worlds oldest Jazzmagazine Orkesterjournalens prestigious Gyllene Skiva-voting the same for it´s special blend of shoegaze, hiphop, bebop, orchestral pop and free jazz.
The success took the band to venues such as Pizza Express in London and Rochester Jazz Festival & Nublu in the US.
The members of the band are some of Swedens most prominent musicians and have worked with musicians and artists like Uri Caine, Django Bates, Klabbes Bank and Robyn. Tonight at Hellsten a more acoustic trioversion will perform special versions of the music!
