Kvartetten: Andersson, Berggren, Milder och Stark

Combining inspiration from the different traditions of jazz, Monk, Coleman, Miles. . . . paired with inspiration from Bach, Strawinsky, Zappa and others, it becomes an exciting meeting where improvisation is always the main path in which the Quartet moves. Without chord instruments in the arrangement, the group gives its own sound, open and airy.

Joakim Milder
Milder has received the Orkesterjournalen’s Golden Record for best Swedish jazz production twice, once with the album Still in Motion in 1990 and again in 2023 for the album Singled out by fate. In addition to nine albums under his own name, he has also participated in around 90 albums with, among others, Red Mitchell, Paul Bley, Tomasz Stanko, Katrine Madsen, Rita Marcotulli, Palle Danielsson, Bobo Stenson and Marcin Wasilewski.

Sven Berggren.
As a member of the Radiojazzgruppen during the 90s, he was involved in radio productions and tours with Carla Blev, Steve Swallow, Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, John Taylor and David Murray. He composed for the experimental group Alea during the late 1990s and into 2000. Sven was a member of Bernt Rosengren’s Octet and also appears on several albums with the groups Horncraft, Room8 and Sonic Skin.

Hans Andersson
His fine bass playing can be heard behind countless fine jazz musicians such as Peter Asplund, Jacob Karlzon, Svante Thuresson, Claes Crona Trio, Berggren/Bergcrantz Kvartett, Rigmor Gustafsson, Vivian Buczek, Joey Calderazzo, Toots Thielemans, Stacey Kent, Mark Murphy, Bob Mintzer and the list could be made twice as long.

Bengt Stark
