Björn Petersson Kvartett

Sacred jazz tones meet raw, searing lyrics that prod and scrape in all the right places.

Leif Carlsson wrote in the Swedish magazine Lira:
”Bold to push this musical project to such a sharp edge. A meeting between lyrics of despair and confusion and a deliberately awkward musical embrace. Simple and relentless — not easily forgotten.”

At the heart of the lyrics lie the flaws and frailties of being human — explored with varying degrees of seriousness, and at times wrapped in layers of irony and gentle humor. The compositions draw deep inspiration from Swedish hymns, lending the music a calming, wistful undertone. The overall sound is quiet, unhurried, and understated, shaped by the moods of folk, jazz, and the Nordic ballad tradition.

Last autumn, we released our third album, ”en konstnärs handbok”, a concept work centered around the nature of creativity and the artistic process. The album has been warmly received and has enjoyed airplay on national radio in Sweden, France, and Germany.
