Ale Möller, Olle Linder and Mats Öberg, join forces! With jazzy influences and music from the latest album ANDRAS, the trio offers an evening you’ll remember! Warmth and humour, wonderful tones and a unique sound!
In 2012, Ale Möller and his long-time musical collaborators met – the legendary keyboard virtuoso Mats Öberg and the celebrated multi-instrumentalist Olle Linder. The casual meeting was the start of a long-term collaboration. Over the years, the trio has played together in countless contexts, always with the same contagious joy of playing and musical curiosity.
The audience can expect unexpected interpretations, improvisations and a musical conversation that moves freely between tradition and experimentation.
Ale Möller started in his youth as an electric guitarist and got his first musician job as a 15-year-old in a set of the Tollvskillingsoperna directed by Peter Oskarson. Ale Möller later switched focus to a career as a trumpeter in the jazz group Jazzådé and then in the Cabaret Orchestra.
Ale Möller is nowadays best known as a folk musician. He participated in the Tent Project and then played with Filarfolket. Ale learned to play the Bouzouki, among others in Greece, where for three years he played in Neo Minores led by Mikis Theodorakis. The bouzoukin continued to be one of Möller’s favorite instruments, even after he mostly turned to fiddler music of a more or less traditional Nordic cut. At the beginning of the 90s, however, the bouzouk began to be replaced more and more by various types of Octavmandola and Låtmandola that he developed together with the instrument builder Christer Ådin.
Ale Möller has so far participated in about a hundred disc recordings, either under his own name or as a member of a large number of different constellations. Ale Möller started and runs the Ale Möller Band, which has performed and recorded records with great success and has been awarded Grammys several times.
There are quite a few artists who achieve a fifty-year career, and even fewer who continue to be leading, creative and constantly curious about something new. One who has succeeded in this is Ale Möller.
Olle Linder plays bass, drums, guitar, mandola and various types of percussion. He plays in many contexts, but mostly in folk and world music and often together with artists such as Ale Möller, Simone Moreno and Celtic Roots, but also e.g. Bebo Valdes and the Swedish pop singer Robyn. More recently, he has toured with Swedish pop singer Tomas Ledin (drums), Brazilian singer Simone Moreno (drums, percussion), and Anne Sofie von Otter (stand bass). Olle Linder started his career at Södra Latin’s high school and has since played in many countries, including South America. Olle has recorded his own records such as the record ”Kasta Loss”.
Mats Öberg plays in the Mats/Morgan band, among other things. The band was originally called Zappstetoot and was formed already in 1981, when Mats was only 10 years old and Morgan 14 years old.
This formation took place before a gig at a music cafe in Yttertavle outside Umeå, where they played songs by the Beatles and Frank Zappa – completely without joint rehearsals. When Frank Zappa played in Stockholm in 1988, the duo got the chance to play a song with the band, on stage in front of an audience, which led to them being invited to the projects Zappa’s Universe and Zappa at Lincoln Center in 1993.
Öberg has also played with most of Sweden’s musicians such as Ale Möller Band, Fläskquartetten, Lena Willmark, Frank Zappa, Mikael Ramel and others.
Mats Öberg has a wide musical background. His father plays the saxophone and his uncles are among the Umeå area’s most accomplished jazz drummers. Mats Öberg is also the nephew of the pianist and composer Bernt Egerbladh.
